A rally will be held by the university at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 10 at the M&T Bank Arena in Hamden at 305 Sherman Ave. and will celebrate the Bobcats' win over the Minnesota Gophers in the national championship game held on Saturday, April 8.
The win marks the first-ever NCAA championship title for the Quinnipiac men's hockey program, which won a record 34 games during the 2023 season and went undefeated at all of their home games.
The victory was clinched by a game-winning goal scored in overtime by Jacob Quillan which cemented the final score as 3-2.
Now that the team has finally been named college hockey championships, fans will have the chance to celebrate together at Monday's rally. However, those looking to get seats at the arena will have to arrive on time, as the limited number of seats will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, university officials said.
Those who do manage to get seats will be given a free championship shirt and a rally towel while supplies last.
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont urged fans to bring their all to the rally.
"Let’s give the team a celebration they’ll remember!" Lamont tweeted on Monday.
